Marie Dance & The Purple Shoes are a Brighton-based Folk/Rock band known for their rich acoustic sound, poetic lyrics, and Americana influence. Led by songwriter Marie Dance, they’ve built a grassroots following through years of gigging, from UK clubs to major festivals like Cambridge Folk Festival and Black Deer 2024. Their debut album Small Town Fairy Tales drew critical praise, while their second record January Sun landed features in Mojo and Fatea Magazine, and sold out its hometown launch.

Marie began her music journey fronting rock band The Tonic Rays in Thailand (2005–2008), whose debut hit No.6 on the Billboard Independent Chart. Since returning to the UK, she’s released five original albums and performs solo, duo (with Richard Dadson on double bass), or with the full Purple Shoes lineup.

Their sound is heartfelt and homespun—stories wrapped in melody, with a live energy that’s both uplifting and intimate.
